Treating rust on the underbody requires a systematic approach to ensure thorough cleaning and proper treatment to prevent further corrosion. Our process goes as follows:
- Prepare the Vehicle: Protect the vehicle and lift it with a hoist.
- Clean the Underbody: Clean off dirt, grime, salt and sand with chemicals and let it dry.
- Remove Loose Rust: Use a wire brush or sanding pads to scrape off loose rust.
- Apply Rust Remover or Converter: Apply a rust converter to treat any remaining rust and try to stop its progression.
- Dry: Let it sit and dry completely.
What is Rust Converter?
A rust converter is an essential part of the rust proofing process because it plays a crucial role in halting the progression of rust and helping prevent further damage to metal surfaces. Here's why it is important:
- Stops Rust Progression: Rust converters chemically transform the rust (iron oxide) into a stable, black, non-corrosive compound. This prevents the rust from continuing to eat away at the metal, effectively stopping it in its tracks.
- Prepares the Surface for Coatings: Rust converters can be used as a primer, preparing the rusted surface for further treatment, like applying protective coatings. Without it, applying paint or other rust-proofing products on a rusted surface would not adhere properly, leading to premature failure of the coating.

What do we mean by Under and Over Rail?
The decision is always made by the customer, however a few things can impact that choice such as;
Are you planning on installing or already have a Canopy or Tonneau cover? If so then the Speedliner is best left UNDER RAIL. This enables the canopy to sit flush on top of the rail as our Speedliner has a thickness of around 2.5mm.
Do you carry surfboards, bicycles or anything that might hang over the tray? Then OVER RAIL is the way to go! Having the extra protection on the top of the tray is essential for you.
Speedliner provides a durable, high-impact resistant layer that shields your tray from scratches, dents, and rust. It helps to guard against damage from heavy loads, sharp objects, and also harsh weather conditions.
